Bioreactors, saturated buffers reduce nitrate levels

CARROLL COUNTY, Iowa —A water quality initiative marked a first Wednesday by installing its first bioreactor in a farm field in Carroll County.
Carroll County farmer Mark Schleisman is confident that the water running from his farm fields will soon be . . . void of dangerous chemicals.
“After it goes through this bioreactor the nitrates should be removed,” Schleisman said.
